I started ice fishing about 15 years ago. I’ve always been exclusive to open water walleye and bass fishing as far back as a little child. My parents never ice fished at all so I had no clue. But the moment one of my buddies convinced me to give it a shot with him I was hooked! From that moment on I became obsessed and every year I focused on putting trophy fish on the ice. Now it’s a way of life and is as big as a part of my life as open water fishing and now I get to fish all year round!
A few years back I had broken my wrist in the fall of the year and even lifting a regular rod was excruciating. I thought my ice season was over until I was contacted by Phil Mathwig, part owner of Neptune Ice Rods. We talked design and construction and I decided to give it a go. Needless to say the rods worked out great and I never looked back! Neptune kept me on the ice doing what I love and I couldn’t be more honored to represent Neptune Ice Rods.
