My name is Stephanie Stevens. I love the outdoors and I enjoy hunting, fishing, foraging, and gardening. It makes me feel good to know where my food comes from. When I was a kid, my dad would take me ice fishing in the shanty he built. I grew up on Lower Phantom Lake. The cold winter months always seemed better when I was involved in activities on the frozen lake. I especially appreciated the solace of ice fishing.
I’m an advocate for food sovereignty. It’s so important for woman and children to get out and enjoy the natural world, and there’s something so rewarding about harvesting your own meals. It’s an honor to be part of the Neptune team, especially as a woman.
Growing up, I always looked up to woman who were involved in the outdoors, who weren’t just the cooks at home, but who were also the providers. The woman who knew the woods and waters just as much (if not better) then the guys. I hope to inspire the next generation.
It also means the world to me my daughter is part of the Neptune team. She is the next generation. As a young leader, she is already paving the way, and a part of the future of conservation and the outdoors.
